Kali Gulab Jamun Recipe

Authentic Kali Gulab Jamun Recipe with Khoya A Perfect Festive Dessert

Craving a sweet treat that’s rich, indulgent, and perfect for celebrations? This traditional Kali Gulab Jamun recipe with khoya offers everything you love about Indian desserts—soft texture, deep flavor, and a glossy sugar syrup that makes every bite irresistible. Made with simple ingredients like khoya, flour, semolina, and a hint of baking powder, these jamuns are slowly fried in ghee to achieve their signature dark brown color, then soaked in a fragrant cardamom syrup.

The addition of egg gives the dough a soft, binding texture, while silver leaves and chopped almonds and pistachios elevate the final presentation. Let the fried gulab jamuns rest in the syrup for at least 30 minutes so they soak up all that goodness. Whether served warm or chilled, each piece melts in your mouth with the perfect balance of sweetness and richness. It’s a must-try recipe for Eid, Diwali, or any time you want to impress your guests with homemade mithai.

Learn how to make soft and flavorful Kali Gulab Jamun at home with this simple recipe that brings restaurant-quality results to your kitchen. Begin by mixing khoya, flour, semolina, ghee, and sugar, then add a bit of baking powder and an egg to form a smooth dough. Roll the mixture into small balls and fry them gently in hot ghee until they turn a rich, dark brown color—this slow frying technique is the secret to that beautiful “kala” exterior.

Next comes the sugar syrup. Boil sugar, water, and cardamom powder until slightly thick, then add the freshly fried jamuns and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This allows the flavors to blend and the jamuns to become ultra-soft and juicy. Finish by garnishing with silver leaves, chopped almonds, and pistachios for that classic touch.
